Meeting Myth / 2021
A story-telling project that mirrors our the current moment in a new myth
Today many people, younger and older, feel barely equipped to face the challenges before us. What, if anything, can the performances we make as theatre practitioners contribute to help people face up to this overwhelming crisis? In earlier epochs, a community facing such an existential threat activated inspiring stories from other times of extremis, to help encourage and focus the correct attitude. But in times like ours the revival of a classic play may amount to not much more than fiddling as Rome goes up in flames. London-based director Harry Burton and theater maker Elien Hanselaer think one creative response to the alarming spiral we find ourselves in might be to tune in to the stories and strands of myth coursing through our own veins, echoing through our chests, perhaps beneath our immediate consciousness, seeking form but not yet finding expression. 3-6 juni 2021, Brian Friel Theatre, Belfast |

RECENT PROJECTS
Afropean Human Being: KVS / 2020
Afropean // Human Being is a journey through what it means to have African roots in Europe. A cast of five share their experiences: where are we from, where are we going – what is it like when you’re always the “other” but yet also “from here”. And “From” – what does it actually mean? Does a person with African roots think of it differently than a Flemish person?
Maria Novella: Campo & vzw Rosa / 2019 Maria Novella was a story-telling experience as a lyrical and loud echoing chamber of our time. The piece addressed issues around socio-economic and gender inequality and the lost respect for the natural world spiralling towards a climate crisis.
Europa in de Herfst: Theater Malpertuis / 2018 'To be scared or not to be scared, that’s the question!’ 8 jonge acteurs met een diverse achtergrond bogen zich over twee oertragedies uit de Thebaanse cyclus.

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf: KVS / 2020
